A weekend in the sun!

Our school semester started out right by getting a 3-day weekend the second week of school! I don't think any of us were feeling burned out yet by homework, but we were all getting a little frozen from the current weather conditions of freezing Provo. For almost a year we had been planning a weekend trip to Vegas with the Burtons, but our conflicting schedules had never permitted. A few days into school, we decided to give it a go and kick-off the semester right!

Our brother-in-law, Ryan, also was headed to Vegas for the weekend to do some job interviews and look at some dental practices. It was even more of a treat to see him since we hadn't seen him since Christmas of 2011 (that's what happens when you're in graduate school...so I'm preparing myself to push pause on my life for three whole years).

Driving down to Vegas we all watched the temperature go from 0 to -7 and then up to the 50's. Every day was t-shirt weather and I even got a little tan! Saturday morning started out with a delicious breakfast and then a few hours of shooting. Eric (who still cannot use his right arm due to his shoulder surgery) gave his left armed shooting a go and discovered he was even better left handed! Who would have thought?

We took Amber and Sam down to the Strip to show them some of the neat stores, the water show, and of course, the Bellagio gardens. It was decorated for Chinese New-Years! We also stopped in the Coke-a-Cola store and the boys decided to try a coke tray with drinks from all over the world. The best part was watching their faces as they taste tested. The only one Amber and I were willing to try was the Inca-Cola from Peru. Now I can tell Garrett I've had it!

Sunday after church we stopped by the temple to walk around and show Sam (since he hadn't ever been there before). I was flooded with memories as I walked the grounds and couldn't believe it had been almost a year and a half since we were married there!

We also drove out to Red Rock to walk around and do a little hiking. We were all pretty tired...so we didn't do too much hiking...but we climbed a few rocks and enjoyed the beautiful views!

We all visited the Atomic Test-Site museum for the first time. It was actually really interesting and full of history! I learned a lot and was really glad we went.
Twinners?
Not the best picture of us, but behind us is a piece of the World Trade Center after 9/11.
Part of the Berlin Wall!
We spent our last night in Vegas splurging and went to see the newest Cirque Du Soleil show, Zarkana. It wasn't super awesome, especially compared to KA, but we still enjoyed it and were amazed at the talent and skills of the performers.

Thanks to the Burtons for joining us and making the weekend so much fun!
